Adam J Sauers is a local artist specializing in the inlay of turquoise, along with other natural stones, onto ceramic pottery of all shapes and sizes. He is originally from Gibsonia, Pennsylvania and is a Native American from the Cherokee tribe based out of North Carolina. Adam graduated in 2001 from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Studies. After graduation he then moved to the Philadelphia area where he worked for a local conservation district as an environmental compliance specialist.
In 2010 Adam moved to New Mexico on a leap of faith in search of a different path. He was quickly drawn in by the mountains, sunshine, and amazing beauty of the Land of Enchantment. For his first few years here, Adam coached youth ice hockey at Santa Fe’s local ice rink and also taught private hockey lessons to both children and adults. In 2014 Adam finally found the path that he had come to New Mexico searching for.
Adam’s father in law, Randy Miller, is a well-known and established artist in the southwest. He created beautiful mosaic turquoise pottery for over 30 years. When Adam asked Randy if he would be willing to teach him how to create his art; Randy happily agreed. Adam was a natural from day one. He quickly learned the specific and detailed processes of creating this beautiful artwork while putting his own style and flare into each piece. Adam has been creating and transforming his art for over 4yrs. It is Adams hope that the love and spiritualty he feels when creating this art can be felt in each of his pieces.
